"It's About Time": By Leslie Keenan - Book ReviewTime is Not "The Enemy" -- Reviewed by Eileen Deerdock
One of the fantasies about growing older and looking forward to retirement
or semi-retirement is that you will finally have "time." Time to do what
you please, when you please. A lifetime of habitual thinking has driven
most of us to view time as " the enemy." For many elder Americans time
often moves from enemy to "unbeatable foe." This is where our relationship
to time will bring us, if our only concept of time is hyper-linear, rather
than spiritual and natural (or cyclical) explains Leslie Keenan, coach,
seminar leader and author of It's About Time. "We have the time to do what
we need and want to do today," Keenan assures her readers of all ages. It's
About Time's breakthrough approach to learning to understand time beyond the
linear, or today's frenetic, hyper-linear component, from the "inside out;"
of coming to embrace time and to reconnect to one's own rhythm offers the
reader the promise of living in balance, harmony and peace. Through
techniques Keenan's taught and tested in her Time Shifters workshops, and a
process for reflection and practice--- all clearly delineated and explained
in the book-- the readers have the chance to identify whether they have been
a "time controller," "time debtor" or someone who has swung between the two
extremes. It's About Time offers its readers a journey culminating in the
gift of living each precious day neither controlling nor denying time, but
accepting it as the friend and guide it can be.
