Foods to Avoid on the Caveman Diet

The majority of foods in discussed in this article comprise roughly ninety percent of all food allergies! The Paleo Diet is considered to be the world’s healthiest diet because it eliminates all of these foods.

Avoid Trans Fats

The jury is still out on this one as far as paleo diet experts go. Some will tell you to avoid it all-together, others will tell you dairy is okay in modest portions but only when in its most natural state. As for our ancient ancestors; they didn’t eat or drink any kinds of dairy products before animals were domesticated.

The problem with the diary products lining grocery shelves is that it is highly processed and pasteurized which significantly denatures milk of its proteins and kills beneficial enzymes and bacteria. The milk itself comes from very unhealthy cows, and unhealthy cows produce unhealthy milk. These cows are fed grains, corn products, and soy-all of which are listed in this post as foods to avoid on the paleo diet-and often given growth hormones and antibiotics. If you must have dairy, try to find a source that is local and not commercialized.

This isn’t about the natural sugars found in fruits. Any sugar that is made my humans is the sugar you should be staying away from. Manufactured sugars include table sugar, processed sugars found in enriched grains (check the labels!), and all kinds of corn syrups.

A legume is seed that splits when it ripens. Legumes include beans (kidney beans, pinto beans, and broad beans), peanuts, soybeans, chickpeas, and lentils. The problem with legumes is that they contain phytates which inhibit absorption and cause inflammation.

Avoid Legumes

No More Dairy

Grains contain lectin (there’s that word again) and gluten which are both linked to digestive diseases and inflammatory problems. Most breads and grains found in supermarkets are enriched (even those “whole grain” breads) which cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate disastrously, causing those constant feelings of hunger, cravings, and fatigue.

Our ancestors didn’t consume grains due to the lack of cooking processes. It’s only been within the last 100,000 years that humans discovered how cooking grains made them edible. Our bodies have been struggling to adapt ever since.

No More Trans Fats

These kinds of fats actually rot when heated to high temperature, turning toxic which causes free-radical damage. Trans fats cause cell membranes to stop working correctly, eventually leading to their death. The paldo diet requires that you avoid sunflower, safflower, canola, and vegetable oils.

No More Refined, Artificial, and Processed Sugars

Last and maybe the most surprising, is grains. Ancient humans didn’t eat grains due to the fact that grains are not edible unless they’ve been cooked, and the cooking process hadn’t yet been discovered. The human species is 1.7 million years old, yet people have only been cooking their foods and eating grains for the last 100,000 years! Our bodies have been struggling to adapt ever since.

These toxic fats can turn rancid, causing free-radical damage in the body when heated to high temperatures. Eating the wrong kinds of fats causes cell membranes to malfunction and die. The kinds of fats to avoid on the paleo diet are canola, vegetable, sunflower, and safflower oils. This includes all foods that were fried in these fats.

These foods are restricted on the Caveman Diet. Staying away from them and your body will reward you with permanent weight loss and acne-free skin!
