Whole House Water Filters - Healthy Drinking Water Today
Water is essential for life, and the benefits of a regular intake of clean and pure water are well documented. Unfortunately, the majority of water that enters our home is far from clean and pure, and to remedy that many people choose to install whole house water filters.
What Do Whole House Water Filters Do?
Whole house water filters consist of a carbon filter system fitted to the main water line before it enters your home.
Clean, pure and filtered water will then flow from every outlet in every room of the house including bathrooms, kitchens and everywhere that your main water supply feeds.
Can Every Home Use Whole House Water Filters?
Every home that has a supply of water running into it is able to have a whole house water filter fitted. As water pollutants vary from one area to another, slightly different filters may be necessary in some cases.
Your water supply company should be able to provide you with a report listing the chemicals and other impurities found in your drinking water. Some areas may have a particularly high sediment level for instance, whilst others could be high in iron, calcium or different minerals.
Whole house water filters are also suitable for those that obtain their water supply from a well. You probably have your well water tested annually, and this report will be useful to the supplier of your water purifier system.
Whole House Water Filters - How Do They Work?
The incoming water is sent through a filter system made up of several stages, starting with a pre-filter to remove any larger contaminants and sediment particles. Carbon and other filters progressively remove chlorine added by the Water Company, insecticides, industrial solvents and pesticides.
Carbon filters are commonly used in other filtration systems, as activated carbon makes an excellent filter. Point of use water systems commonly fitted under the kitchen sink, along with jug or carafe water purifiers both also use carbon filters.
The Advantages Of Whole House Water Filters
Pure, clean and pollutant free drinking water is of course the main advantage of a whole house water filter, but in addition to this, the chemicals that make untreated water ‘hard’ are removed leaving soft filtered water.
This means that the lime scale and corrosive deposits that usually build up over time in kitchen appliances are eradicated, and that less detergent, soap and shampoo is needed by the whole family.
The benefits of whole house water filters are to be found with the whole family and all over the home. Being able to provide a system that removes all the invisible dangers to our health that the water companies don’t tell you about, has got to be well worth considering at any price.
