This is a very nice yoga mat. However, if your palms ever sweat when doing yoga, I wouldn’t recommend this product.

I just found the perfect yoga bag for this mat, it actually fits and easily! If you know anything about Manduka mats you know this is the best.

The Manduka Yoga Mat is the Mercedes Benz of yoga mats. I was leery of spending this much on a yoga mat but the first time I used it I realized all yoga mats are not created equal.

It’s very durable. Still using the same mat after all these years and love it! It’s very thick, comfortable and is extremely secure. Does not slip or slide a bit. The mat was cushioned without being soft (no need for a blanket underneath your knees), firm without being hard, and heavy, so that the mat lay flat the whole time. I genuinely can’t wait to be able to buy the mat myself in a year or two!

Love it and Save money here. Simply the best mat I have ever practiced on. I practice 3-4x/week when I’m on a roll, and I can’t imagine using a thinner, cheaper mat. Totally worth the price if you want to get serious about your practice. I bought it to use it for P90X and it serves this purpose well. This mat is of very good quality; it doesn’t move when you use it, it is comfortable, and it is large. It’s too heavy and bulky for lugging back and forth to classes. Keep this one at home, and bring the lighter weight one for yoga class.

It’s not worth the frustration, time, or energy! And if you do, get ready to slip all over the place!

Probably not the best choice for a mat you tote around unless you want to get in some extra strength training. This one is the kind you buy, find a place for, and leave it there. However, use on a carpet can still cause bunching and movement, but there really isn’t much that can be done about it for any mat. I’m impressed with this mat and recommend it to anyone who does tougher versions of Yoga or lots of jumping. However, I use it on carpet so it may stay put if used on bare floor. This is my 2nd Manduka black pro mat. I have not had any concerns with slipping. It is quite sturdy.

I currently only use this mat at home, so I can’t give much feedback for portability, but it is somewhat heavy so it might not travel well. Tufted Ottoman.

This mat is heavier than most, but it truly makes a difference. Manduka BlackMatPRO 71-Inch Yoga and Pilates Mat Simple and sweet, it’s worth the money. I practice on hardwood floors and my knees always took a beating, no more. As promised it does not bunch or slip.

Primarily used for P90X workouts (jump training, core work and yoga/stretching). We have not experience slippage and the two we purchased store well rolled up behind the weight rack we have set up. This one is sticky and longer and wider than most mats. It is heavy, but well worth it in poses as the thickness is greatly appreciated!

It is a huge investment, but well worth it if you enjoy Hot Yoga. The mat is heavier than other mats so it would be helpful to have a carrying case or strap, but once you experience the comfort, durability and support of this mat you will know where your dollars went and most assuredly you won’t be disappointed. It’s the same basic hygiene that makes one own, not share, an exercise mat. If you can afford it, do it. When you first use it there may be a slight slip from the film, but the more you use it the better the traction that you get. It always lays flat and does not bunch up like other mats will.

When the day arrives that my old Manduka is too worn to use, I’ll look for another one just like it. It’s easy to clean, too.

The yoga mat I previously used was far too thin, causing strain on my knees, feet and hands, as the floors in my apartment are cement. The Manduka is very thick and dense, minimizing the floor’s impact. I contacted Manduka and they explained that the slipping is common during the THREE MONTH BREAK IN PERIOD! They recommend I do 3 sea salt/water treatments on my mat and promised I would be happy after that.

It’s plain black, no silly patterns or pastel colors. This is a mat that is as serious as you are about your workouts.

I would recommend this mat to anyone who is serious about yoga practice. This is a great mat for doing yoga. It’s not worth the frustration, time, or energy! And if you do, get ready to slip all over the place!

The “odor” was very mild and gone within a few days. The mat itself is amazing. In the end I took the plunge, got the sucker in the mail and have never, EVER looked back. It’s amazing how a good quality mat can improve your workout and last a lifetime.

Unfortunately we went through a few yoga mats each until we found the Manduka Black mat. laundry wall cabinets.

My hands and feet sweat a lot during class. Most mats I’ve tried turn into a slip-and-slide after the first 5 minutes. This mat protects your toes and spine and knees and hands from the hardness of the floor underneath it. Plus, it will stay in place. This is a very nice yoga mat. However, if your palms ever sweat when doing yoga, I wouldn’t recommend this product.

I started using this mat for Bikram and it’s fine, since I usually put a towel over the mat and I have no problems with slippage. However, when I did regular yoga with the mat without a towel, it was slippery especially when your hands or feet are wet and sweaty. I have bought 1/4″ mats before, but they gave under the pressure of my body weight. The Manduka mat has absolutely no give.

I have no complaints. This is one of the best yoga mats on the market. Really felt secure in going into some of the poses; surprising how one subtly holds themselves back when the feeling of traction is missing. A little bit longer of a mat (for the price) would have been nice.

I have had this mat for about 2 years now and it still is like new. In the past, I used to go through a standard mat every 3 months, but this one is different in the sense that the foam is much denser, making the mat incredibly scratch resistant. There are other advantages to this for Yoga practice and especially standing poses and balances, this mat is firm and provides very stable support, which is a welcome change from regular mats which can get mushy.

This is the best mat I have ever invested in! It’s well worth the money. You won’t be disappointed. This mat is a ridiculous rip off!

I didn’t because I read it was too heavy, and I didn’t want to get in anyone’s way in Yoga class! It would have been fine. It hasn’t let me down, great condition and does well with sweat all over the mat! It is pricey, but it’s well worth it IMO.

In fact, you will get an excellent upper body workout just walking to class. If you are like me and have to carry extra yoga mats, eye pillows, a gym bag and a 13 month old, forget it. It is thicker than all other mats and thus provides more cushioning during my stretches, yoga or exercising. If I run on it, the mat will move.

He loves the mat; it is much gentler on his knees. It is a bit heavy, so just beware of that if you intend to travel with it.

Bottom line with this mat: If you are going to use the mat to constantly go to the yoga studio, buy the Purple Travel Mat from Manduka. MICROWAVE STANDS.

If yoga is something totally new to you, thinking about a yoga class can be a daunting proposal. But if you prepare yourself properly for yoga classes, chances are that you are going to find one in no time that will get you into yoga rather quickly. Yoga can challenge you, but once you step up to this challenge, you are likely to have a very satisfying experience.

If you begin looking for a yoga class, make certain that you are looking for the type that will suit your present condition. If you are just starting out, a class for beginners is your best bet, but if you have already had some yoga, a more advanced class may be in the works for you. The important thing is to choose a class that will challenge you and that you will be able to continue with.

Are there some yoga classes in your own neighborhood? Those may be the best and most convenient for you. Finding a good class that’s also enjoyable is a good thing in that it will help you to stay motivated. In any case, a class in your own neighborhood is probably a good idea, so find one if you can.

Or are there gyms near you that offer yoga classes? These sorts of classes usually come with a paid membership, and such a class is truly a good choice if you intend to stay with yoga for the foreseeable future.

But if you prefer to exercise alone and in your own time, try to invest in a DVD. This will allow you to exercise at home and to keep up with your exercises at your own pace. This is also a fine choice if you tend to be too inhibited to go into groups for your exercise routines.

One of the exceptional thing about yoga classes is that in no time at all you can see explicit results in your body. You may truly start enjoying looking at yourself in the mirror, which is a very good thing.

It’s plain black, no silly patterns or pastel colors. This is a mat that is as serious as you are about your workouts.

I love this mat and would buy it again in a heartbeat but I won’t need to ’cause this thing will still be around after I’m long gone! A yoga instructor I work with raves about Manduka and – after two years of ignoring her – I finally bought one. It depends on where you practice your yoga. Both Manduka mats are wonderful products.

I was expecting a different material, guess I didn’t do enough research, the mat is sturdy (fairly smooth, I still practice with an additional layer on top). The thing I don’t like so much about it is its weight- heaviest mat I have ever had!

I recently started getting into yoga, and decided that I wanted to drop all the middle-of-the-road stuff and jump right to the high-end product. I was also very interested in getting a thicker mat for my knees.

The chemical smell that I had read about is definitely noticeable the first few times you use it but goes away rather quickly. It’s a lovely, high quality mat.

Please understand that I’m comparing this to a garbage Embark mat from Target. That mat had me slipping and resulted in extra pressure in my hands and knees during certain poses. I have used it a few times and it is the most comfortable mat I have ever used. It doesn’t slip on the floor (any surface) and it doesn’t let you slip either. This mat is heavier than most, but it truly makes a difference. Manduka BlackMatPRO 71-Inch Yoga and Pilates Mat Simple and sweet, it’s worth the money.

It hasn’t let me down, great condition and does well with sweat all over the mat! It is pricey, but it’s well worth it IMO.

Yes, 7 pounds. Put this mat down on carpet, and you’ll have no problems–it will not buckle or give in downward facing dog. I am so glad for once that I fell into peer pressure. I cannot even count how many previous mats I have gone through in my yoga journey. They all ripped into shreds after a few months of use and lose color and elasticity.

It’s worth every penny, a great investment. Very thick and shock absorbent. A note on the product information sleeve mentioned that there is a slight film on the mat. I don’t sweat very easily, and it happened only every so often so I think it may have been the oils in my hands. It’s very durable.

Depression is a very serious matter, which does not discriminate.Depression doe not care what your age is, what gender you are,or even what your race or social class is.

Depression can often make a person feel sad, helpless, hopeless, and irritable. It is normal for people to have these feeling sometimes, but some people cannot just snap out of it and this is the difference between what is normal and major depression. It is the determination and brutality of the emotions that determine the mental illness of depression from normal mood changes. We are going to talk about different types of depression and how it can affect you. Depression is an illness that affects your body, mind, disposition, thought, sleep, energy, concentration, weight, and much more. Depression is not a mood, it is not a sign of personal weakness, and it cannot be simply willed away.

One of the most important prospects of learning how to triumph over depression is to learn how to eat appropriately. If your body is not getting the proper nutrients in the proper balance then it can get stressed and this added stress on your body can straightly effect your depression. Hydration is also important, you want your body to have at least 8-10 glasses of water per day so it can function properly.

The cause of this problem is not really clear yet, but if you were diagnosed to take antidepressants for your depression and you have experienced sexual side effects as the above mentioned, be sure to tell your doctor about it.

The importance of doing this is that your doctor may adjust your medication regimen or change your medication if it is possible, so you will be able to continue taking the antidepressant needed without sacrificing your sexual pleasure and activity.

The Medicine Program is for people who do not have insurance and do not qualify for government programs you may qualify to enroll in a privately sponsored program. They do charge a $5 processing fee but the medications themselves are free. Volunteers staff this organization and the processing fee covers their expenses. This company will contact the drug manufacturer on your behalf, or you can choose to contact the drug companies themselves.Free Samples – Often pharmaceutical companies provide physicians with free samples. Ask your doctor is he/she has any samples on hand of your medication.

Some studies have led medical health practitioners to the conclusion that carpal tunnel syndrome can be successfully treated with increased supplementation of vitamin B6. This research concludes that CTS is brought on by the joints and ligaments in the hand and wrist becoming weakened by too little of this very important vitamin.

For instance, in research conducted by the Portland Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation Center in Oregon, 441 people were examined and it was concluded that in these patients higher levels of vitamin B6 corresponded with fewer incidences of carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms. PHSRC also concluded that higher levels of vitamin C in proportion to lower vitamin B6 levels corresponded with more incidences and greater frequency of flare-ups of carpal tunnel symptoms. Similarly, Japanese university student research with a random sample of 174 students concluded that lowered levels of vitamin B6 led to increased risk of getting CTS.

There are many ways to get enough vitamin B6 into your diet besides the ubiquitous gel caps. You can also get this vitamin from a long list of good for you foods. Turkey, sunflower seeds, salmon, pork, mangoes, chicken, brown rice, barley, bok choy, bananas, and avocados are all high in the vitamin. Also be aware that drinking a moderate amount of beer can raise your levels of B6. There are several ways, though, that you might find yourself in a vitamin B6 deficit. For instance, women who take oral contraceptives can find themselves running low on it, while consuming too much food with Yellow Dye #5 in it can have the same effect; it is found in some processed cheeses and some pickles. High stress is another thing that can deplete the level of vitamin B6 in your system.

When you go to start taking vitamin B6 supplements, you’ll find that you are usually encouraged to start with 50 mg doses at three times a day. Be aware that they might cause increased urination and that you should not take more than 200 mg a day unless a physician tells you to do so. The concern is that when it is taken in quantities that are too great that they can harm you sensory nerves.

The issue is that in some research cases, this is something that is seen to happen. Some studies as well as some anecdotal evidence have cause physicians to prescribe this vitamin on a routine basis. According to Dr. Alfred Franzblau of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, one issue is that patients might be overdosing on vitamin B6 in the format as prescribed by their doctors, who might seem them taking as many as 300 milligrams of the vitamin or more.

So, can increased levels of vitamin B6 really prevent carpal tunnel syndrome? Or is this research too “iffy” and this supplementation too dangerous to be tried? One treatment for CTS which is known to be safe is performing a set of exercises designed specifically to removed CTS symptoms and then prevent future onset. No drugs, no possibility of overdosing, no “iffy” results; you strengthen your hand and wrist and CTS is gone and prevented.

Developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome exercises are non-invasive and drug free. They are designed to be used to strengthen the hand and wrist so that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome symptoms fade away and future possibilities of getting carpal tunnel syndrome are prevented. It is likely that these will be even more effective for you. Follow this link to see more carpal tunnel exercises.

Most people have life event memories, some good, some so-so and some they never want to recall, but whatever that memory may be, it produces energy that the body stores. There is not just one place it stores it either, which means it can be felt in the regions of the spine and the nervous system. This is very true if the experience is one the body doesn’t want to go through again. The cerebral cortex of the brain is where people have their awareness and consciousness and, when it doesn’t want to go through something again, it becomes disconnected. However, with the assistance of a Denver chiropractor, the body can work through it all, having awareness and consciousness.

When stress, whether it is chemical, physical or emotional, becomes ensnared within the body, the spinal cord is the one that becomes affected. Stress can make it feel like an over-tightened guitar string, which puts the body on high alert. It locks in that tension and causes the spine and posture to become distorted. Spinal cords that are under strain will cause a change in the tone and vibration of all the cells, causing obstruction in communication and energy flow.

When the breakdown in communication occurs within the cells and nerve system, there is no ability to identify, process and eloquent body sensations, stress patterns and emotions. In essence, it limits the range of a person’s adaptive responses. For that reason, this supports the disconnection between the mind and body, which can produce and maintain any spinal distortions, as well as vertebral subluxation.

The more a person attempts to deny the parts that have been hurt, the more suffering and discontentment is present. The parts of the body that defends against real or perceived threats are unconscious sensory motor strategies anchored in the nervous system and spine as stuck energy. This blocks the nerve energy and consciousness. Until the energy of stress and trauma is connected, the body can stay in its place of suffering, which includes physical symptoms of illness and pain. How can the nervous system change this jammed energy?

The spine and nerve’s shape, position, tone and vibration sets the awareness and level of consciousness a person experiences with the world. Picture a triangle that’s got labels on all three sides: Perception, Behavior and Structure. Surrounding the triad are electrical bio-fields labeled Spiritual, Life Force, Emotional and Lower/Upper Mental. The bio-fields encircle and move the body through the Spinal Gateways. All the bio-fields have awareness, consciousness level, tone and vibration. What one gets inside the triad is energy. The nervous system and spine is what gives people their perception, behavior and structure for the bio-fields.

To get a better picture of how structure, behavior and perception influences consciousness and awareness, do this experiment: Hang the head down low and bring your shoulders forward. How does this make you feel? Keep that position and ask yourself, Is there something wrong with me?.

How does that energy feel inside your body? You probably feel like you’re in a lower energetic bio-field with lower consciousness. If a person is locked in this position they most likely will feel frustrated and depressed.

Roll the shoulders back, look toward the sky, lift up your heart and ask yourself: How can I be step up who my soul is asking me to be?

A person needs to open themselves up to the Individual Soul and the Global Soul bio-fields. And, they should remember, that as they experience the awakened spine connection, the vibration will increase like the vibration does for humanity and the planet.

The model above is recognized as the Triad of Change. This is known as the fundamental organizing rule of Network Spinal Analysis. With the help of a Denver chiropractor who utilizes Network Spinal Analysis, a person will be able to experience a broad range of resourcefulness in wellness, health, consciousness, life and awareness. By putting a gentle amount of pressure in certain patterns to the Spinal Gateways, which are seen at both ends of the spine, the body’s nervous system becomes powerful. Afterwards, the nervous system will restructure itself to higher levels of both behavior and perception, which will make it have a connection to entrapped energy. As the body releases the energy, it helps direct the body/mind wave energy to go through the Spinal Gateways so that energy is recycled as transformational and healing fuel. As the nervous system moves away from its fight or flight response to its safety response, it opens the way to clear out negative feelings.

As you get acquainted with an expanded spine, you’ll begin to experience the awareness of love, grace and ease of an open heart along with an appreciation of the universal soul consciousness that connects to your higher power and humanity. Talk with a Denver chiropractor Level III certified in Network Spinal Analysis today and see how it can work for you.

Increased body-mind connection is available with Denver Chiropractor Dr. Jeffrey Parham using Network Spinal Analysis.

You’ll probably agree that the sport is hard on the body when we talk about surfing especially if you are a surfer. You’re on an unstable surface with uncertain elements to begin with. In Indonesia, most of their sports are not set for someone who has the slight bicep nor the faint hearted because you are going to battle sharp reefs or 5 knots current (at Nusa Dua) to make it out. What would be your key to keep your body primed with the high demands of surfing? Yoga might be a best choice.

Step your left foot back, about one leg length behind while you are standing and facing the ocean. facing to the front at 45 degrees angle Point your left foot and step it a few inches to the left and during inhalation, slowly extend your right arm towards the front, keeping your core strong, and knee slightly bent and you reach your arm toward your knee, shin or if you are more open, towards your toes. Spread your toes wide into the sand, and hips should be rotated and also the torso up toward the sky. Go after with your left arm and reach it overhead and stay like this for a few deep inhales and exhales, and repeat on the opposite side. The side of your body can be stretched allowing for more reach when you are to paddle and the inner legs are strengthened and overall balance is improve.

Yoga only improves flexibility as known by some people. What they have to know is that as the situation demands through Yoga, you can develop an intelligent body that can be loose and twisty or strong and centered. An intelligent body that can be loose and twisty or strong and centered as the situation demands can also be developed in yoga. The presence of mind to remain calm under pressure is also gained in yoga.

Give yourself at least five minutes in a quiet spot you found before hitting the waves. And keep in mind that the experience is delightful not in the outcome of your surfing. There could be some few position that you can practice in the quiet spot. Downward Dog

Hands and knees coming together and your legs slightly straighten but knees are not lock. Diagonally away from your hands, send your hips and spread your fingertips. You can breathe and hold for about five seconds and it is not needed that your heels touch the sand. Try to find length in the harm string and spin while you make an upside down V with your body. Benefits: It lengthens the back of your body to counter over development of frontal extension muscles from padding.

Triangle Pose

You don’t have to become a vegetarian to do yoga as what most popular belief tells. Since the late ’60′s, surfing and the practice of Yoga are intrinsically linked when hippies and surfers searched soul connection on the beaches of Hawaii and California. The only difference is that while yogis turn inward to find peace, seek their Zen in the outward art of riding waves. With surfing, can physical yoga be of any help? According to Vancouver-based Eoin Finn, who teaches yoga, ecology and surfing at retreats in Bali, Mexico, and Costa Rica, he said, “ABSOLUTELY”.

Curious to understand about Yoga Vancouver? If that’s the case better go through Yoga Vancouver ASAP.

There have been certain health benefits of yoga, further making it a favorite fitness regimen among health buffs.

When you encounter the word yoga, you may stereotype that of a person who is doing some stretch movements while standing or sitting on top of a mat. While it may look like very strange to you, in reality it is those stretches that improve a person’s well being, making his joints and muscles more flexible and less prone to accidents. It can help in getting rid of body stiffness.

The following are just some of the main health benefits of yoga. Each is a great reason by itself to take up this practice.

One of the best yoga benefits for you would be better posture. This is what happens when you continuously do yoga because your muscles will be strengthened, giving it better ability to support your whole body. You will feel the great difference especially if your job requires you to sit or stand for a long time.

Often, yoga is equated to relaxation because it effectively removes tension not just from our bodies but also from our minds. It helps to remove stress, in the process replacing a feeling of calmness. Often, people who do yoga for the first time claim that they immediately feel less stressed after just one session.

While yoga cannot be considered an aerobic fitness regimen, it can, however, improve our lung capacity. This is achieved through the mindful breathing that accompanies every yoga position. Depending on the pose and the purpose, the breath can be deepened or lengthened to contribute in relaxing the body. This in turn allows for easier stretching and posing.

Perhaps you have high blood pressure which doing yoga can help lower it. Although keep in mind that this is not the main answer to this health problem, just a way to cope with it and make it more manageable. It works since yoga relaxes you which in turn prevents the increase in your blood pressure.

Are you feeling down lately? Depression is one of the major causes of sickness these days. Because when you are depressed you tend to take less care of your body. You start to eat unhealthy foods. You have no energy or enthusiasm to exercise. You start to have a hard time sleeping, instead you are frequently awake even during the night worrying about a lot of things. While yoga may not be the complete solution you maybe looking for, on the other hand, it can definitely help in improving your mood and concentration, in turn helping you fight off depression.

There are perhaps more than a dozen health benefits of yoga, but those listed here are good examples. Interested? You do not have to enroll in a class right away. You can just sample some yoga positions on your own and just take it from there.
