One of the active ingredients in the Revitol Complete line of anti wrinkle and anti aging skin care products is Argireline, technically known as a peptide. People often refer to the product as a peptide skin cream or peptide eye cream.
Argireline is a distinctive and unique peptide that, in repeated tests, seems to reduce the degree and severity of wrinkles on the face. It has even been used as a treatment against wrinkle development. Many people consider Argireline to be a good alternative to Botox.
As we age, facial wrinkles are almost inevitable. Problems develop in the skin in the form of physiological pathways, formation of collagen, elastin polypeptide degradation and other problems that develop in the skin. Synthetic peptides have been found in many studies to decrease the formation of facial wrinkles, and many people believe that this gives them a more youthful appearance.
Argireline is used in a number of cosmetic products including emulsions, gels, sera and others. The recommended dosage of Argireline is five percent, but can go higher depending on many considerations, one of which is the speed of wrinkle reduction the consumer desires.
One of the reasons for develping Argireline was that many of the ingredients used in wrinkle control have shown long term health risks in the past, risks not associated with this particular peptide. Technically speaking Argireline was identified and developed for consumer use through an analysis of skin topography using adult female volunteers.
What exactly is Argireline? In the mid 1990s the Spanish Ministry of Health produced a synthetically created compound called Acetly-Hexapeptide-3 (Argeline). It is a hexapeptide which is comprised of six naturally occurring amino acids in combination. This active ingredient is known as a deep penetrating and powerful amino peptide. It operates by inhibiting neurotransmitter release which means that the chemical communicates to nerves to slow down or stop transmitting to muscles. When this happens, facial muscles begin relaxing which, in turn, brings about a slight expansion in overall size of the muscle.
Naturally, as you would expect, when the facial muscles expand, the skin over the muscle starts to stretch, meaning that the face will look smoother, healthier and younger because the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced. In short, Argireline assists in relaxation of the intensity and frequency of contractions of facial muscles. The result of this action is sometimes referred to as a "lifting" feeling.
Argireline also seems to smooth skin through inhibiting the degeneration of collagen and elastin. Many people, when applying it in cream form, use it around the eyes as a peptide eye cream, between the eyebrows, around the mouth and on the forehead, neck and the rest of the face. Researchers believe the results to be cumulative, and in some clinical studies a reduction in facial lines up t 17% occurred in a 15 day period, with up to 27% occurring in a 30 day period. These studies were performed with a five percent concentration of Argireline.
This cumulative effect continues to add up over longer periods with further reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
