A Few Tips On Understanding Your Golf Swing When You Play Golf
When you start to play golf the best thing that you can do is to make sure that you take lessons. The reason for this is to make sure that you are understanding the golf swing properly which make up such an important part of the game. Without a good swing you will not be a good player, simple as that. Here are some tips to remember.
First of all off the tee you need to focus on power but also that speed can kill your shot. When you strike the ball you are transferring the energy from the swing into the ball and therefore the harder you hit it the further it will go.
If, therefore, you make just a small mistake on the swing, your ball will find itself going way off course. You need to maintain a solid stance and keep your feet planted on the ground. The backswing should be more reserved and your shoulders should remain locked along with your elbows. When you have completed the backswing the downswing needs to be fluid and not jerky. Only if you do this will you be able to hit a straight ball but a lot of practice will be needed before this is consistent.
When it comes to shorter iron shots the emphasis will be on spin as well in order to make sure that the ball sticks on the green and does not go rolling off to the side. You need to open your stance a little bit and make sure that you swing it under the ball and that you do not roll over it as you would with a drive or wood shot.
In order to get this spin you need to adopt a slightly open stance. Then when you swing the club do not roll over your trailing wrist as you might do on a drive off the tee. You need to get under the ball in order to control this spin.
The last thing you need to worry about is the actual putt and this will simply involve keeping your arms locked and playing right though the ball in the line of the putt. Friction and gravity will do their work here.
For those golfers out there, we know you are trying to incease golf swing speed. When increasing golf swing speed, it is important to listen to the advice and tips that the professionals, such as Tiger Woods use

These are great tips on the nuances and fundamentals of the swing. I sometimes struggle with keeping my head clear and my swing consistent. My name is Keith Kanzel and I play golf. I also work with the National University Golf Academy.
As I read and participate in the online world of golf, I pick up a lot of good information that helps me with my swing.
This month the NU Golf Academy is having a new Swing Challenge for golfers. It is free and a great way to show off your swing and have it looked at by not just your peers, but our golf professionals. There are some great prizes, including a $1000 scholarship and swing lab sessions.
If you are interested check it out on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/nugolfacademy.
Cheers!
