One of the most important elements of your golf game is your golf swing plane. What is a golf swing plane? In general terms, a swing plane refers to the circular movement, or your arc movement that you follow when you perform a golf swing. However, you’ll sometimes notice that people talk about a one plane golf swing and a two plan golf swing.

What exactly are the difference between a one plane and a two plane?

One easy way to think about this is that you are either a one swing plane guy or a two swing plane, that said you can find almost hundreds of different ways to perform your swing because there can be hundreds of variation to a one swing plane. It may sound confusing, but all you need to know is that you might struggle if you apply a one swing plane on a two plane swing shot setup.

How do you set them apart?

One of the major separators between the two of them is your how your arms and your shoulders behave during a swing sequence. The difference can be easily spotted during your setup, back swing, transition, and with your down swing. With the one plane golf swing, the main thing you’ll find and notice is how your shoulders and arms are not disconnected during any of the steps above. Whereby for a two plane swing; your arms and shoulder movement will feel slightly disconnected and separated from your body movement. This means more loose part when you swing and generally easier to lose control.

The transition period of the two swings will also be different, on a one swing plane you will find that the shoulders of the golfers are connected and their clubs will be rarely raised above their head. This means that they do not have to forcefully bring the club back down on the down swing, which can cause them to lose their balance and alignment. In terms of the distance, people would feel that a two swing is more powerful because they would need to exert extra pressure on the down swing, however that is not true because a one plane swing is equally adapt at producing the power and distance if they can strike the ball with accuracy.

The British Open Championship, or the Open Championship as it is referred to in Britain, is the longest running major championship in professional golfing, and is played on a rotating basis at one of nine courses across the UK.

After the first championship was held in 1860 the championship has been played on a yearly basis, except from during the two World Wars and in 1871. The competition has been played at 14 courses, including St Andrews in Scotland, Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake & Royal St George’s in Kent, and five courses including Prestwick & Musselburgh Links are no longer on the rotation.

The field for the open is 156 and for those who want to compete, there are three ways to try and gain a place in the competition. One hundred and four of the participants are made up of leading players who are given exemptions in order to ensure that the top professionals can play.

The remaining amount are players who qualify via Local Qualifying which is made up of Regional Qualifying and International Qualifying. Regional Qualifying is made up of 16 18-hole competitions around Great Britain that take place just before the event with 12 places available and at International Qualifying 36-hole qualifiers are played, with one held in Africa, Australia, Asia, America & Europe.

International Qualifying has stricter entry rules than Regional Qualifying, as only players who have an Official World Golf Rankings rating are permitted to enter, but for those eligible there are 36 places available split across the 5 venues.

The most successful Open Championship champion is Harry Vardon, of England, who won six tournaments between 1896 and 1914, closely followed by renowned golfer and course designer James Braid who along with John Henry Taylor (ENG), Peter Thomson (AUS) & Tom Watson (USA) has won 5 titles.

The next competition will be the 140th Edition in 2011, and is to be held at Royal St George course, in Kent.

Mere Country Club, a topCheshire golf club was a venue for the recent Reginal Qualifyers. It also makes a great course to take out a corporate golf membership at.

Golf can be a difficult game to learn but once you improve your swing, it can be loads of fun. One of the biggest problems that beginners and even pros struggle with is finding the best golf clubs.

by Nick Avery

Playing golf is an incredibly fun game once you begin to get better at it and your swing shots are improved. A problem that many beginners and pros struggle with is choosing the best golf clubs for them.

It’s no surprise either as there are literally hundreds of different clubs you can get spread across different brand names. Once you know what factors and qualities to look when purchasing the best golf clubs, the process becomes much easier.

With that said, golf clubs are not universal and with unique individuals, not every club will be the perfect fit. Essential golf equipment that you will need include a golf bag for all your clubs and golf shoes to help stabilize your body as you swing.

When choosing golf clubs, the type matters a great deal. Of course, your skill level and how often you play ultimately depends on the clubs you will get.

There are also different types of golf clubs and each serves a unique purpose in that you wouldnt want to use a putter to attempt to hit the ball out of a sand pit. In order to further improve your swing, a good understanding of how each club works is essential.

The material also matters as those clubs with graphite shafts are typically more expensive than those with steel but result in better shots. The flex or bend of the shaft also matters a great deal as different kinds result in different ball control and stability.

The most ideal approach to finding the best golf clubs is to test out as many as you can at a local sporting goods store. Be sure to choose the club that is most comfortable for you and that fits in with your style.

Always with a certified seller that has had customers who can vouch for them. If you want to save money, then purchasing used is a great way to doing so but be sure that the club is not dented or bent.

Every golf fan has a different idea as to which are the most memorable 5 great moments in golf. Indeed as in any other sport, there are a lot of different highlights to choose from and there are a lot of places to look for the events you missed out on the first time around. There are DVDs, VCR tapes, magazines, books and of course there is a wealth of information about the sport online as well. You certainly won’t have any trouble finding great moments in golf to decide from.

There are many moments that are considered to be the 5 great moments in golf. Depending on the golfer they may have their own point of view of what moments were the best. They may be funny follies and accidental things that happened on the course that made people laugh really hard. They may also be on the other side of the spectrum and be amazing shots of a hole in one straight into the hole. Everyone has their own idea of what a great moment is but there are so many of them everywhere you will have to decide for yourself.

However, the internet offers the best option for finding any 5 great moments in golf you could name. You can easily look through articles, the archives of golf publications and watch videos. You’ll also be able to get the opinions and insight of other golf enthusiasts as to what they consider to be the best moments of the sport.

Most of the 5 great moments in golf can be found on VCR or DVD. You can purchase them or rent them out of your local video store or even online with places like NetFlix. Most compilations of great moments include hundreds of different scenarios on the golf course with famous golfers that you know today like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and others. You can make the decision which five you think are the best and it may be very difficult to decide.

A library is another resource where you can find 5 great moments in golf. Libraries usually have information based on the players or categorized in another way. The best way to search for moments in golf history in a library is to look by the golfer name. This way you can read about certain happenings and determine which events were covered the most in the media and other things.

Golf magazines do an excellent job of covering happenings and great moments. You can find 5 great moments in golf almost every weekend on the tour if you are catching up on the latest news of the week via magazines. The best thing that you can do is read up on what is going on. Then you can get the best events of each week and follow your favorite players and moments.

Again, you’ll have to decide for yourself which are your favorite 5 great moments in golf, but there’s certainly no shortage of places to learn about them. Whether magazines, books, videos or other sources, there are so many memorable events to choose from that it may be very difficult to pick only five!

Masters golf winners are very proud to hold the titles they do. This golf tournament is one of four major golf championships held in Augusta, Georgia at the Augusta National Golf club. This is a private golf club that is not open to the public.

The Masters is part of the PGA Tour, The Japan Golf Tour and the PGA European Tour. Also called the US Masters, this is an invitation only tournament, with the players who may participate being chosen by the Augusta National Golf Club, which has complete control over the event. There are fewer players in this tournament than in any of the other major tournaments, since only those invited by the club may participate. The first of the year\’s four major tournaments, the Masters is held in early April.

Masters golf winners are awarded the now much coveted green jacket. At one time, people scoffed at the jacket due to its color, but attitudes have changed since and winning this jacket is seen as an honor. The jacket has been awarded to Masters golf winners since 1949 and may wear it for one year, at which point it must be returned to the Augusta National Golf Club, where it awaits the next tournament winner. By tradition, the previous year\’s winner helps the current year\’s winner put on the jacket.

Naturally, there is also a cash prize to be won; Masters Golf winners receive awards out of a total purse of $7.5 million. The champion of the tournament wins a gold medal and $1.35 million and the runner up receives a silver medal and a cash prize, while the lowest scoring player of the day goes home with a crystal vase. Any player who scores a double eagle or a hole in one is given a large crystal bowl; players who score an eagle receive a set of fine crystal goblets. A crystal bowl is also awarded to the winner of the par 3 event held the day before the tournament proper begins.

There are many Masters golf winners that have won the title of the tournament more than once in their career. Jack Nicklaus holds the most records and is regarded as the champion of the Masters with six tournament wins between 1963 and 1986. Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods are both tied with four wins of the Masters Tournament each. The first non-American to win the Masters in 1961 was Gary Player from South Africa.

Masters golf winners are considered to be very fortunate and excellent athletes. They perform very well and the lowest score on the golf course at the Augusta Private Golf Course at the Masters Tournament as a part of the PGA tour. Athletes in this tournament are only allowed to attend by invitation only. There are many awards given at this tournament for the top winner, the runner up, and other things like a double eagle, an eagle, and more. Some of the prizes that tournament winners receive include a green jacket, vases, goblets, and a large purse of prize money to take home with them.

Arnold Daniel Palmer was born on September 10, 1929 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, or as the residents there call it “Laaatrobe,” with an emphasis on the “A.” Considered to be one of the greatest golf players in history he has won a number of events including the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour dating back to 1955. Given the nickname, “The King,” he is popular among both fans and golf pros around the world. Part of golf’s Big Three that included Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, with the emergence of televised sports in the 1950′s, Palmer and his Big Three buddies made golf interesting, and watchable.

Arnold’s father Deacon Palmer was a greens keeper at the Latrobe Country Club (which Palmer bought in 1971), where he learned the game on the then nine hole course there. When he was only seven years old, he scored an impressive 70 – quite an achievement for a seven year old.

He attended the popular Wake Forest University appropriately on a golf scholarship and served for three years in the Coast Guard. During this time, while continuing to develop his golf skills, he married Winifred Walker who he met while playing in a Pennsylvania golf tourney. During his rookie season, he won the Canadian Open and surged ahead with personality and business ideas that made golf a sport people became interested in and wanted to watch-many people give Palmer the credit for the sport becoming so popular.

His first major championship win came in the 1958 Masters – within two years he was one of the biggest names in the game. One thing which helped was his signing on with the agent Mark McCormack. Asked later on what it was he saw in the young Palmer, he answered: “his good looks, his modest background, the way he played golf, his risk taking and wearing his heart on his sleeve, and his involvement in so many exciting early televised finishes.” One of the first US golfers to win the English Open, Palmer quickly became an international golf superstar and won the Masters in the years 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964. He also won the US Open in 1960 and the English Open again in 1961 and 1962. However, his best years were 1960 through 1963. In this time period, Palmer won 29 PGA Tour Events in only four seasons of play.

Palmer was also named Professional Athlete of the Year in 1960 by Sports Illustrated. The same year, he won the Sportsman of the Year award. These awards won him a growing fan base which became known as “Arnie’s Army”. Palmer continued to win one or more PGA Tour events every year until 1971 (when he won four), even against Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player – an impressive achievement.

Arnold won the Vardon Trophy for low score average four different times and played on six Ryder Cup teams. By 1980, the acclaimed golfer was eligible for the Senior PGA Tour and with his name alone, helped make the tour successful. The tourney would eventually be renamed as the Champions Tour. On the Senior Tour he won ten events on the tour and with the help of his agent McCormack, Palmer became tops in pay for endorsements, sponsorships, and charity events. He has also won the revered Presidential Medal of Freedom Award presented to him by George W. Bush.

Palmer made his 50th and last appearance in the Masters in 2004. After failing to make the cut for the 2005 Senior Open, Palmer announced that he would no longer compete in the Senior Majors. However, in 2004 he made one of his greatest shots, getting onto the 18th green in his second shot from more than 200 yards. Even Palmer himself was impressed.

Beyond golf, Arnold is involved in many businesses including the Bay Hill Club and Lodge (the home of the Arnold Palmer Invitational), helped organize and create The Golf Channel, and helped to build the first golf course in the People’s Republic of China. He started The Arnold Palmer Design Company and moved to Orlando, Florida in 2006. He has owned the Latrobe Country Club since 1971-something Laaaytrobians won’t let anyone forget. In 2000, he was ranked a deserved sixth greatest player of all time in Golf Digest and was awarded the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award (1998) and made it into the World Golf Hall of Fame (1974). Perhaps Palmer’s most popular characteristic is indeed his character-a warm, full of laughter, genuine man who simply loved to play golf.
