Golf irons are ranked among the most significant tools in golf. Considering that golfers differ considerably, once applied, golf irons can greatly facilitate the game for the better.

If you wish to acquire the most applicable golf iron for you, you need to take time and make comparison between the existing types on the market and then determine the best which fits you well and is compatible with your playing style. Golf irons are available for every kind of player whether novice or expert in the game. It all depends on your choice.

There are basically two types of golf irons including cast and forged irons. Forged irons are produced by heating up the metal and then adjusting the metal to the club shape.

The next step after this is to ensure that the metal is milled, drilled and then ground to produce the perfect club head shape. Cast irons are however different from forged irons because they are less expensive since they are made with molds and their shape is achieved automatically.

It is again useful to be aware of the different roles of golf irons since diverse irons serve particular shots. You need to be knowledgeable about the different types of iron you may need to apply for diverse aspects of the game.

It will be very beneficial for you if you acquire a suitable golf club in consideration of your height. With a shorter golf club, your swing will be affected and may not get the best results out of your game.

Before acquiring the golf iron, you need to bear in mind the size of your handicap. With no doubt, if you have low handicaps, it is advisable to go for lower irons. However those with medium handicaps, irons of 3 to 9 are the best alternative.

It recommended that high handicap golfers make use of irons that are over 100 and could alternatively play with woods and wedges for an effective game.

Besides golf equipment, the writer also regularly gives advice regarding cleveland golf iron and womens golf club sets.

Golfers who are looking for an iron that is workable and consistent will find that the Nike Slingshot 4D is a good fit. On the other hand, high handicappers who want maximum forgiveness may have to look for a different set. Above all, the Nike Slingshot 4D irons have been designed for game improvement.

Nike presents the 4D as a progressive offset with an enlarged sole width and club head size. The enlarged sole width and club head size is meant to provide more forgiveness thus giving the player more control. The slingback of the long irons is positioned low and back while the shorter irons have a higher and more forward slingback. The greater offset produces straighter shots while the decreased offset offers precision. These features deliver the desired ball flight a player would aim for.

Nike Slingshot 4D Cons

High handicappers often want a golf club with as much forgiveness and consistency as possible. While the Nike Slingshot 4D offers a good amount of forgiveness, it is not at the maximum level because they do not offer an extremely high moment of inertia (MOI).

These clubs are also less consistent from the rough and not as versatile. Compared to some other irons in the market, these are not the most gracious around the green and can be a bit clumsy for some players.

Nike Slingshot 4D Pros

Intermediate golfers will find that the Nike Slingshot 4D irons produce consistent swings. The 4D is a set of clubs meant for someone who doesn’t need to practice as much. However, if you are an intermediate player, these irons will allow you the chance to improve your game to the next level.

Overall, the 4D is a set of irons engineered and constructed for game improvement. Both beginners and mid-level golfers can take advantage of the properties of these irons. This includes a progressively positioned center of gravity for higher shots, enhanced control and accuracy, and forgiveness. The Nike 4D is available in steel, which is $599 in retail value, and graphite, which is $699.

If you are in to golfing then you know how pricey golf clubs can be. There is a lot of research and effort put into actually making a golf club just because sometimes there is a lot at stake when golfing. There are different kinds of golf clubs out there and they range in price and quality. Golf clubs that have been manufactured with the highest standards in mind are usually a bit more expensive than others. The thing is that if you are looking for a good iron you dont have to spend too much as long as you know where to look for reasonably priced quality clubs. By reading on you will learn where to look and how to find good prices for good quality golf clubs.

There are many types of golf clubs out there and if you are starting out then you need to find a club that is right for you. You should avoid spending too much on a golf club and focus on finding one that will help you improve your game. A good golf club wont make you a better player especially if you are just starting out. The reason is that only an experienced golfer has the understanding to get the most out of a good golf club. Expensive golf clubs are usually designed so that they are more efficient and less forgiving. Even if you make a really small wrong move an expensive golf club could throw the trajectory of the ball so far off track that your stroke will be really bad. If you are starting out then you need to select a beginners golf club so that head of the iron is a bit more forgiving. Practicing your swing with a beginners club will give you a better understanding of the process and help you improve.

You can save money when buying clubs when selecting a used or second hand clubs. It is not hard to find good quality clubs used because certain golfers like to stay in touch with the latest technological development in their field. Therefore, they change clubs very often. Nevertheless, it is important that you know how to see if everything is ok with a golf club. When buying a used golf club you need to be particularly careful, and look for anything that would compromise the quality of the clubs. Wear and tear could be something detrimental for a club because of many reasons. Before you actually purchase anything it is advised to test out the clubs. Take them out on a game with you and see how they work for you.

Good places to find used golf clubs are auctions and pawn shops are two of the best places to go for golf clubs of this type. Golf clubs are almost a staple of auctions, and you are likely to have at least one choice. If you spend a lot of time at auctions, you will be able to have quite a few different choices for golf clubs. You will simply have to learn to recognize golf clubs and judge whether they are a worthy investment. The same goes with pawn shops. If you are able to recognize the features that you desire in a golf club, you will have endless opportunities to check for these in various venues. Finding clubs that fit with what you are looking for at an auction or a pawn shop will save you a lot of money.

Even though it is easy to find a second hand golf club you should keep in mind that finding the right one for your needs might be a bit harder. It is important to know a few things about golf clubs and golf club technologies just so you are able to tell if there is something wrong with a golf club or not. If you don’t have much experience in telling if there is something wrong with a golf club then it is most likely you are not aware of things and you might just need some help. You need to carefully plan out all of the things that you are going to look for in your future golf clubs, and bring this list with you when you go to scout out for possibilities. Ask your more experienced fellow golfers for assistance or advice. Knowing about golf clubs will save you time and money as long as you are aware.

by John Smith

Selecting the right golf club is very important when it comes down to improving your game. Buying a golf club that works well with your golfing style can improve your game immediately.

If you are just starting out in golfing then chances are that just like every other beginner golfer you don’t pay much attention to what clubs you are using. Every beginner golfer has or will start playing with clubs that were acquired without much of an investment. Golfers that have been playing for a while do however invest in more intricate and pricey golf clubs, irons that will compliment ones style. There are many variables that make a golf club more suitable for ones style. Variables such as the length of the shaft, the size of the head are just two examples. Another variable is the materials the golf club is made of. Two popular materials are graphite and steel.

Although steel golf clubs are more expensive than graphite golf clubs that doesn’t mean that steel is better than graphite. Every golfer has a different style and can use the golf club in different ways. So if your style is complimented when using a steel club there is no reason to spend more for a graphite club. The only significant difference between the two clubs is that a steel on lasts longer then a graphite one.

Because steel is heavier and stiffer than graphite there are different views on which material is better. If you tend to have rather fast swings, you will want to stick with clubs that are stiffer. Steel offers this, but fast swings coupled with heavy clubs can be potentially dangerous, so make sure you always have a tight grip.

Graphite a lighter and more flexible material than steel is and as a result it makes for lighter ans softer clubs that absorb some of the power used to hit. This does not necessarily make it a better choice primarily because it all depends on what kind of game you play. If your strokes are slower than average, a flexible graphite club could be the best choice. Keep in mind that the flex of a club can be classified into 4 different ratings: Ladies, Regular, Senior, and Extra Stiff.

Graphite clubs rarely fall under the Extra Stiff rating. If you feel that you need the extra stiff clubs, you would probably be better off with a steel club. The best thing you can do is to simply give a few test swings at the club store, and figure out what feels the most like what you have used in the past. Make sure it is something you could use for an entire game, and wont be come uncomfortable.

Because every golfer is different, and because there are many types of clubs out there the best thing you can do is get advice that is catered specifically to your needs and style. Someone who understands your style and knows about golfing can give you advice to help you select the right club for you.

Golf swing tips can be found online or you can invest in one of the many golf swing instruction e-books. Most of the tips on golf swing techniques go into a lot of detail – sometimes too much detail. What most golfers with a swing fault need are a few basic golf swing tips; whether it is to fix a slice or learn more about the short game in golf.

5 Tips on How to Achieve More Golf Distance

One of the best ways to score lower is to gain more golf distance off the tee. When you have a shorter distance to the green you have more chance to score par or better. Of course, you need accuracy as well as distance; otherwise you will be in a worse situation. Here are 5 quick and easy tips to help you drive long off the tee:

(1) Position the ball off your leading foot’s instep and tee the ball up higher so that you hit the ball on the up-swing; (2) Resist trying to hit the ball with all your might – instead, use a steady rhythm and work on increasing your swing speed gradually; (3) Use the correct shaft flex for your swing speed – use a flexible shaft if you have a lower swing speed (stiffer for faster swing speed); (4) Cock your wrists early on the back-swing and release them just before impacting the ball; (5) On the backswing, turn your shoulders a full 90 degrees for maximum distance off the tee.

5 Tips on How to Master Golf Irons

How to master golf irons is a subject that is often ignored. There are lots of help available to improve your drives and general golf game but not much help specifically for your golf iron play. With these 5 tips you will learn to dominate your golf irons:

(1) Practice on the driving range to know your average distance with each golf iron in your bag; (2) Use the right iron for the distance you want to hit it and use a full swing; (3) Take into account the wind strength and distance as well as other factors like height and slopes; (4) Playing from the rough is different from playing from the fairway – you will need to adjust the ball position, stance, iron loft, and attack angle; (5) Learn proper course management – going for the pin is sometimes not the best option.

5 Tips on How to Improve The Golf Short Game

The short game of golf is one of the most important areas of the game. Being able to hit 300 plus yards straight down the middle of the fairway is all well and good, but if you can’t get the ball on the green with your chip shots, that perfect drive will be wasted. You need to practice the short game of golf to lower your score, so check out the following 5 tips on chipping:

(1) Use a slightly open stance and place your feet closer together; (2) Choose one club (7, 8, or 9 iron) and practice your chipping from different distances with it; (3) From under 50 yards, use a bump and run and get the ball rolling as soon as possible; (4) When playing over a hazard, use a more lofted club with a pitching swing; (5) The length of your backswing will determine the distance the ball will travel.

These tips on golf swing technique cover three areas of the game that are important but there are other areas that you have to learn to dominate. They are bunker or sand trap play, putting, pitching, and learning how to cure a slice or hook (if you have these swing faults.) Golf is an all round game – meaning that you have to be proficient in every aspect of the game. Don’t just concentrate on how to be a long driver; instead practice with every club in your golf bag.

Having a hybrid iron (or a few) in your golf kit, has become the accepted norm, rather than the exception to the rule. Most golfers, even some of the hardened PGA professionals, have come to realize the benefits of using hybrids, rather than regular irons.

Compared to the regular longer irons, hybrids are much easier to hit. This is partly due to the center of gravity being further back than on a normal long iron. the result is a slightly better launch angle, adding some more distance to your shot.

Besides the center of gravity being further back, hybrid irons also come standard with slightly longer shafts. This makes for a “bigger” swing, and using the extra leverage to improve impact, and drive the ball further.

Hybrid irons, compared to regular irons, are much more versatile. The hybrid can be used in a number of different situations, including fairway bunkers, and long approach shots on par three and four holes. In the odd situation where accuracy is crucial, it can even be used to tee off with.

As with many great things in life, however, there has to be a catch. In this case, the club’s performance poses a situation: The extra distance attained, will leave you with a “distance gap” somewhere in your set. Considering the capabilities of each iron your set includes, you will have a gap somewhere between one regular iron and the next hybrid. You have one of two choices: You can either decide to add another club to fill the gap, or you could go for a whole hybrid set – imagine the impact on your game…..

The more difficult way out would be to decide on a compromise course by course. Take a look at the layout, the obstacles it presents, and the length. Judging by the situations you expect, decide which club has to be dropped in favor of another. The expected conditions would, for instance, have you make a choice between having a five iron, and taking an extra wedge.

Hybrid irons, thanks to cutting edge technology, offer advantages that conventional irons cannot match. Although these advantages are best appreciated by recreational players, more and more seasoned golfers, including well known PGA players, are being seen carrying hybrids in their sets. Originally, hybrids were designed to help the average golfer derive more pleasure from the game. There are, however, more and more “pro” hybrids hitting the shelves lately. It seem they are taking over.
