In the late 1970′s the world got its first glimpse of early hybrid golf club designs. With new technology and innovations, the hybrid club today offers more accuracy and longer ranges. Hybrid clubs have made good golfers attain a higher level of power and accuracy. The lightweight of the club has enabled seniors to keep golfing and beginners to have more success in their game.

The weight is the first difference in hybrid golf clubs. The shaft can be made of steel, carbon, graphite, or fiberglass, and the head of the club is shaped slightly different from the older models of non-hybrid clubs. The heads of the clubs are made of a thinner metal that is hollow and usually filled with a type of a super polymer. Most club manufacturers have their own formulated blend of a polymer. These materials give the club a lighter feel. When the club hits the ball, the thinner metal slightly has a give, creating a trampoline effect springing the ball forward.

The irons differ from their older style counterparts in a couple of ways. Instead of a wedge of iron that you try to hit under the ball to loft it into play, the hybrid design is hollow and has a slight bulge on the backside of the club. The club is slightly weighted for balance and control and filled with a super polymer to help with the spring reaction. The club is designed instead, to hit the ball on top of the grass, not under, the trampoline effect gives higher loft and more backspin. The word divot may be soon a long memory in the golf world.

Hybrid utility clubs are all purpose clubs found in many golf bags. It utilizes the wood and iron design in combination to get even the most seasoned golfer out of the rough. The shorter shaft for tighter spots, the loft of an iron, and the distance of a wood all into one has replaced some golf clubs in the bag as an all in one.

The driver in golf used to mean the big wooden club. You rarely see a wooden driver in bags today. There is however, a new hybrid club design of wood and steel that is having great success for slower swingers, like senior players, or beginners. The lightweight in the metal has allowed for a larger face on the club allowing for more accuracy and power.

It took the professional golfer awhile to embrace the new technology in golfing, but now more than 80% of the golfers on tour have at least one hybrid if not all hybrid clubs in their bags. The cost on some clubs can be more than $400 per club, but there are also companies offering the same golfing technology and a discounted price.

Before you purchase your new hybrid golf club or clubs, check them out at your pro shop, sporting goods stores or on the internet. You should always get the right sized club for you. These clubs will help a beginner improve their game as well as those that have been golfing for a while a much better score. You can see what others are saying about these clubs by reading customer reviews about hybrid golf clubs.

When thinking about adding hybrid golf clubs to your bag, be sure to read the hybrid golf club guide.

Every golfer is aware of the growing use of hybrid golf clubs. Many golfers find themselves wondering if they should be using hybrids. You should know that there are a lot of reasons for you to be be using hybrid golf clubs.

The first question usually is, why? Well, the simple answer to that is hybrid golf clubs are easier and more forgiving to use than long irons. Long irons are widely considered the hardest clubs to hit accurately. Imagine, you are standing close to 200 yards from the green. Sand in front of the green, maybe on more than one side of it. Water may be in play as well. can you confidently put a swing on the ball with your 3 or 4 iron that will NOT end up in trouble a high percentage of the time? Most casual golfers would have to say no if they were to answer honestly.

Now, picture the same shot with a hybrid. If you put a bad swing on the ball, the chances are it will end up in a much better place than if you put the same bad swing on the ball with your long iron. Imagine if you try the same shot out of heavy rough. The advantage hybrids give you is amplified even more.

In the previous example, why does the hybrid result end up better? There is more than one reason for this. Anyone who has used long irons knows it is easy to miss-hit the ball. If you hit the ball fat it will likely not get much loft and will go either right or left in addition to not getting the distance you wanted. When this happens any hazards in front of you or on either side of the fairway come into play. You might get more distance if you hit the ball thin, but if you do this you are even more likely to have your ball go either right or left. If you make the same contact using a hybrid golf club, you are likely to get a much better result. The shape and size of the club head makes it more forgiving, and your shot is still likely to get good airtime and decent distance. Chances are, your ball is still alive and you will be able to play on without taking a penalty stroke.

Hybrid golf clubs are more forgiving and easier to hit than long irons. That is the simple truth. If you are on the fence about using them, you need to jump over onto the side of hybrid golf clubs. You can start using hybrid golf clubs and make absolutely zero changes to your swing. The result is likely to be a lower number on your scorecard the very first time you use your hybrids. I can’t think of any one thing you can do today that will make tomorrow’s golf score lower. That is a powerful statement and the only real reason you need to add hybrid golf clubs to your bag today!

Have you heard about the hybrid golf club movement? If you play golf at all, you surely have. We all know golfers who have run out and bought hybrids without doing any research at all. Hybrids have great benefits, but before jumping on the bandwagon, you should at least do a bit of research.

The big questions are, are hybrids right for you and will they improve your game? In this article I will look at the issue of determining if hybrid golf clubs will improve your game, and also share with you the right way to use them.

If you are a solid long iron player now, you are in the minority of amateur golfers. Since long irons are difficult to hit consistently compared to most other clubs in your bag, most amateur golfers struggle with them. And, since hybrid golf clubs replace long irons, most amateurs will benefit from adding them to their golf bag. Even if you are a good long iron player, chances are you will still benefit from hitting hybrids. In my own case, I am an 11 handicap so although not ready to turn pro, I am pretty good compared to most amateurs. I have always been pretty consistent with my long irons, in fact I had my lone hole in one with from 184 yards and a 4 iron. I also have an eagle with a 5 iron from 173 yards. I will generally choose a long iron over a fairway wood, so that should give you an idea of my comfort level with long irons.

Even if we take all the above into consideration, I am still a better golfer when I use hybrid golf clubs. Given that, it is fair to say that hybrid golf clubs will make better golfers out of most all amateur golfers. So when asking if you should use hybrids, the answer is definitely yes.

So, the next question is, just how do I hit hybrid golf clubs? Many players mistakenly think they should play hybrids like they play fairway woods. This is wrong, and if you play hybrid golf clubs like you play your fairway woods you will not be taking full advantage of their benefits, and you will still be leaving strokes on the golf course.

The most simple way I can tell you to use a hybrid is to say to use it just like you use your long irons. What if you have a poor long iron swing? Well, we all have our own comfort level with our golf swing. I am a decent golfer, but my swing is very far from what any pro would teach. I play the ball further back in my stance than most golfers and I generally hit a draw as opposed to the slice or fade most amateur golfers play. These things work for me because I feel comfortable with my swing and I can repeat the same swing over and over. If you can do that, you can make small adjustments to improve your swing over time.

So each of us has our own golf swing. If you switch to hybrid golf clubs from long irons, what does that mean? Well, if your long iron swing was one that struck the ball with a descending blow, then that is a good start. You do not want to use a sweeping, fairway wood type of motion with your hybrids. Hit the ball with a descending blow and let the design of the hybrid work for you.

Ok, I have told you to use the same swing with hybrid golf clubs that you should with long irons. This may cause you to ask why the result will be better with hybrids. The answer lies in the design of the hybrid head. The head of a hybrid is wider and flatter so if you hit the ball fat, the club face cannot stick in the ground. If you hit a long iron fat, the head will stick in the ground and your ball will not go very far. With a hybrid, the club head will likely bounce rather than stick, and you will probably still get the ball a decent distance down the fairway. No, it won’t be as far as you planned, but the ball will probably go straight and this keeps any trouble left or right out of play. The same swing with a long iron brings trouble short, right and left into play since you will probably hook or slice the ball in addition to losing yardage if you hit the ball thin or fat.

In summary let me say that almost every golfer will benefit from taking the long irons out of their bag and adding hybrid golf clubs. You are almost guaranteed to lower your score if you add hybrids and use them properly. Make sure you hit the ball with a descending blow like you would with your long irons. Spend some time on the driving range getting used to your new hybrids, and don’t be surprised if you take strokes off your golf score the very first time out!
