Motorola Two Way Radio
Motorola's® TalkAbout two-way radios allow clear, static-free — and toll-free! — communication up to two miles away. These pocket-sized wonders use the Family Radio Service, the UHF FM frequency created by the FCC for recreational and casual use.
They're ideal when skiing, hiking, visiting malls or theme parks — any place where you'll occasionally be out of your group's sight and shouting distance...but don't want to lose touch. Select from 14 channels, using 38 different codes, for a total of 532 distinct channel configurations that allow clear, unfettered communication, even in environments crowded with other users.
An advanced scanning system monitors all available channels, and channel settings can be locked in to prevent accidental changing. Incoming messages are signaled by one of five audible alerts.
This advanced Motorola® model is rechargeable, too. It comes with a NiMH battery that runs for up to 11 hours on a single three-hour charge (charger is included). It also operates for up to 30 hours with 3 AA batteries (order separately) using the optional battery tray. For totally hands-free operation, go into the voice-activated mode. Motorola's newest T289 model features built-in iVOX technology so there's no need to press a button or wear a headset...just talk! Offers three modes to accommodate varied levels of background noise. LCD screen is backlit for use in the dark; it displays channel, code, modes and state of battery charge. Comes with belt holster. Measures just 3 3/4" long (plus antenna); weighs only 5 1/4 oz. (with battery). Range varies with terrain and conditions. Select ice blue or chrome-plated solid brass.
