Why Cruise The Waters Of North America?
When you look through cruise offers from around the world there is really only one continent that can provide something for everyone. North America has three countries in its massive land mass but it has multiple climate zones and a mix of beaches, mountains, plains, and hills that provide any form of outdoor recreation you can think of. They also have a cultural diversity there that will amaze you. Do some research and you’ll find clusters of people from your own country somewhere within this vast region.
North America is comprised of a total of three countries, Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Each has its own charm and a selection of cruises to choose from. In Canada the north coast offers trips to the Arctic Circle while both the East and West Coasts have port cities that send out ocean and island cruises mostly during the summer months. There are winter cruises available in some areas but they are mainly day trips for whale watching or fishing trips.
Some of the cruises that leave Canadian ports travel to the United States and many of the cruises that leave the United States travel to Mexico and the Caribbean, seeking warmer climates for sun worshipping travellers. The ports of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, San Diego and Los Angeles are all busy year round with ships travelling south to warmer waters. Each of these cities also has an international airport so getting to the port of origin for your cruise will not be difficult.
Other ports along the East Coast that cruises are available in are Boston, New York, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Atlanta. Some of these ports were former destinations for trans-Atlantic liners that once carried passengers and mail from Europe to the United States and back. The ships that carried that mail competed for an award called the Blue Riband for speed. Among the former winners of that award were the SS France and the Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen Mary II, the ship that replaced the QE2 as the Cunard Line flagship, still services the US East Coast on trans-Atlantic cruises.
If you’re looking for a cruise departing from a West Coast city try a Far East cruise departing from San Francisco or a Hawaii cruise out of Seattle. The ships that sail the Pacific are every bit as luxurious as those that travel the Atlantic. You can pick up similar cruises from Sacramento and Portland along with half a dozen other port locations in California, Oregon, and Washington State.
