Affordable holiday villas in Portugal
Stepping on the very first step to the right, is the house where English poet John Keats lived and died in 1821. Today is a museum open to the public dedicated to his memory, full of memorabilia of the English Romantic generation. Halfway up still on the right is the apartment that was the setting for The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone (1961). Bernardo Bertolucci’s, Besieged (1998) was also the stage in a house next to the steps. American singer/songwriter Bob Dylan refers to the “Spanish Stairs” in his classic “When I Paint My Masterpiece” (1971). Today modern terraces lay in perfect harmony with the surrounding baroque context. Discover best apartments for rent in rome now.
For being one of the oldest cities in the country, Philadelphia also known as the “City of Brotherly Love” makes a good place to learn about the country’s history. The city’s wealth of information about the past specifically during the revolutionary war when it once served as the nation’s capital is surprisingly interesting. Apparently, the Treaty of Independence took place in the very city’s Independence Hall in 6th Street where quite a number of historical buildings and landmarks are situated including the famous Liberty Bell that served as a symbol of America’s Freedom. Because of these historic sites and museums found within the area, Philadelphia has earned the reputation of an educational center.
First off, it is no secret that planning a 10 day visit to Italy can be a daunting task, I know this first hand. Our first trip took a year of planning including reading tour guides, studying maps and searching the web and making the necessary reservations. It turned out to be a great trip and we covered a lot of ground in 12 days. On our most recent trip I wanted to concentrate on Rome with a side trip via car and train to a typical small Italian town. The trip was made in early September (I prefer traveling to Italy in September, October and November). We set out from Orlando, changed planes in Philadelphia, and landed in Rome. Unlike our previous visit to Rome we decided to rent an apartment rather than stay at a Hotel.
This aforded us the opportunity to buy fresh food and produce from the local markets and experience a bit of the Roman lifestye. The apartment we decided upon was in Trestevere (some call it the orginal Rome). Trestevare is across the Tiber from the more familar tourist areas and provides one a much better taste of day to day Roman living. Our apartment was across the street from the Tiber at the Ponte Sisto, with great river views and people watching opportunities.
