Madrid, the capital city of Spain, has not always been a hot tourist spot. With a population well over 3 million, though, it has certainly stayed full of things to do and activities to be enjoyed. Madrid is well known for its cuisine. It is especially famed for paella, tapas, and seafood. There are a great variety of restaurants that you can find throughout the city serving the best of Spanish cuisine. However, you will also be impressed by the multitude of international cuisine options that you will find.

The wines and spirits in Madrid are popular, as well, and include many local favorites. A traditional Spanish dinner with a matching glass of wine will be sure to please any traveler.

Madrid’s History

Madrid does have a lot of rich history, but they aren’t really focused on showing it off. Right now, the country is working on becoming an international metropolis, so if you have trouble finding historical sites and tours, don’t be surprised.

In addition, you can find history throughout the city showing different stages of Madrid’s life. Whether you want to see classic history landmarks or famous sites, there are plenty to see in this city that has been around for centuries.

The Prado Museum, the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, and the Reina Sofia Museum are all located in Madrid. These are three of the most famed and important art galleries in the world, and they feature some of the most prominent artists of our time.

Considering that there is enough going on in Madrid to keep 3 million people happy, you should have no trouble finding the best nightlife and entertainment on your trip to Madrid.

The city is known for salsa, flamenco, and jazz music and you can find them at any number of theaters, bars, or night clubs. It’s not uncommon for a night out to last all night long.

Shopping is another form of entertainment to be enjoyed in Madrid. You can find everything from large department stores to small boutiques and specialty shops, giving you plenty to enjoy while in town. It doesn’t matter why you come to Madrid, because you’ll definitely be able to stay busy when you’re here.
