If you ask the average, ordinary United States citizen about the rest of the world outside of the borders of America, you will receive an answer tailored to the Western propaganda machine which has continually told its people how dangerous and corrupt and evil the world outside the United States is. The reality, which you will discover once you begin exploring as an expat, is that most countries enjoy greater safety levels, not to mention better employment rates and economies.

According to CNN Money and USA Today, along with the Department of Labor and the Census Bureau, the cost of living in the United States for a family of four is around $60,000 per year. Unfortunately, the salary for the average working adult in the United States is only $26,000 per year after tax, so two working adults only bring in $52,000 a year, which is $8,000 short of what they need to actually cover the cost of living.

Life in Mexico is extremely easy to enjoy, even if you don’t speak any Spanish and just want to enjoy life in one or of the resorts of Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. There are numerous all-inclusive hotels where you can speak English and stay for as long as you’d like, but if you want to experience more than just the typical tourist version of Mexico, you need to live in the country as a long-term expat.
