Inexpensive Summer Holiday in Asia

by Robert M Freeman

This summer, pick up your swimsuit and suntan lotion bottle, and book a cheap vacation to Bali – a jewel in the Indian Ocean.

In the 1930s, Bali became a trendy place for surfers, who came in from every country to experience the amazing waves around the island. Since that time, Bali has been a surfer’s manna waiting to be experienced, with beaches that never end and weather that is perfect all year round.

As the island is not that large you will never have to look too much to discover idyllic surfing conditions, and the large range of surf conditions also provides different experiences for both experienced and new surfers. With its great location in the Indian Ocean, the swells are perfect year round, and are ideal if you are looking to get in some off-season surfing.

The best time to visit the island is in July, because it is the time when water is cool and the skies are clear. From December to March there is more rain as the rainy season sets in, and so the surfing conditions are better on the eastern side of the island.

Medewi Beach is a wonderful surfing spot for inexperienced surfers, with restaurants next to the coast providing a substitute to surfing. Kuta Beach is good for newcomers as there are various surfing schools here that you can sign up with for lessons. You can also hire or purchase equipment on this beach. Dreamland is another surfing beach where all types of surfers will find themselves taking pleasure in the swell. Balangan is another fun beach for new surfers, with less competition and the possibility to score more waves.

The waves are very nice for new surfers at the above mentioned beaches. On the other hand, Bingin Beach is the one that skilled surfers gather on. Like Bingin, Uluwatu is also for veteran surfers as the waves can go as high as fifteen feet, and prove hazardous for those unqualified or raw. A comparable wave height is to be accepted at Nusa Dua, where this hazard is together with the razor-sharp reef bottom that can tear apart inexpert surfers. The surf at Canggu Beach is also great, but it is a good idea to look out for the undertow and uneven reef that can harm those who aren’t cautious. Padang is another beach for knowledgeable surfers, with massive swells and great barrels that are both fun to watch and surf.

Bali is a fun place for some inexpensive surfing action, with tourists amassing here from everywhere. Be ready to purchase or hire equipment if you don’t already have it. You will be able to take in an inexpensive vacation here with the benefit of being able to experience various kinds of waves every day.

So, if you’re looking for a surfing vacation, then this one is surely perfect for you. Not only low-cost, but it also gives you many surfing options so that you can completely enjoy your time here.
