Lake Bob Sandlin is a 9400 acre lake located in East Texas. The State Park covers 639 acres of wooded terrain along the shore of the lake. This land was originally settled by the Caddoan people from as early as 200 B.C. to the 1700’s.
During the French and Spanish explored the area and built relationships with the Caddo, Choctaw, Cherokee, and Kickapoo Native Americans in the late 18th to early 19th century. Today the area is mainly used for farming, ranching, and recreation.
Fishing is a big draw for Lake Bob Sandlin. This popular fishing destination for East Texas locals offers a great variety of fish including largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie. Water skiing, wakeboarding, hiking, camping, and mountain biking are also popular activities for outdoor enthusiasts to do on and off the water.
The area has a wide variety of wildlife and birds which makes for great wildlife viewing, photography, and bird watching. You can even see eagles around the lake during the winter season.
Lake Bob Sandlin is about 65 feet deep at the deepest point and its water level changes by about 2 to 3 feet per year. The water clarity is rated as good with a visibility of 2 to 4 feet deep. The lake is located to the southwest of Mount Pleasant, Texas.
