Numerous airlines, have started the self-check in kiosk. The kiosk is an alternative to standing in line an waiting for a person. As you check-in, the airline becomes aware that you have arrived at the airport. The check-in kiosk is becoming popular.
These kiosks, normally operate through a touchscreen system. The system is driven by your confirmation number or the credit card number you used to purchase your tickets. Once you pull up your name, you can begin the check-in process. You will be asked whether or not, you need a boarding pass. If you need the boarding pass, it will automatically print out for you. After this, whether or not you have any baggage to be checked.
When in the process of checking bags, make sure you check the fess ahead of time for your airline. Some airlines, will give you the first bag for free and charge a fee for the rest. Each airline has different policies. Any items that you which to carry on board the plane should be placed in the compartment overhead. Check all bag weights, before you leave your house. Keep in mind that lighter is better when in the process of purchasing luggage.
The regulations and rules with regard to air travel are numerous. Many items are not permitted on planes, for example, knives, box cutters, and scissors that are over four inches. Sporting good items, such as, clubs for golf, and baseball bats are not allowed. You can put your gun or other firearm in your checked luggage if you have the travel permit for them.
There are several security checkpoints at the airport. There is a rule regarding liquids that can be carried on the plane. The rule is called the 3-1-1 rule, which allows passengers to carry a liquid or gel in 3 ounces or less. The items allowed are, hair products, lotion and toothpaste. The items are to be in quart size, clear, bag. The limit is one bag per passenger. You should keep the bag at the top of your carry on for easy inspection.
The carry-on pieces will be scanned. Any laptop, camera or other large item, will have to be taken out of their carrying cases and placed in bins. All shoes, jackets, and coats, will have to be removed and placed in bins. The checked luggage will be put through a separate scanning process. Every passenger has to go through a screening process. Going through a metal detector is a requirement. All metal objects, for example, belts, jewelry and coins must be removed and placed in the bin. If you set the alarm off while going through the detector, you will probably be searched with the hand wand or a pat down.
Remember to arrive at the airport, at least 2 hours in advance, for any unexpected situation that can occur. If you are patient, your travel should not be as stressful. Keep all the checkpoint rules in mind, as you pack your luggage. Always remember to have proper identification for everybody in your party.
