You will be amazed at a Zihuatanejo villa. Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico, is on the west coast of Mexico, north of Acapulco. The weather is tropical. Until the mid-70′s, it was a peaceful little fishing village where the mountains almost come to the sea, stopping just for a beautiful semi-circle beach. You can still meet the fishermen at the dock in the early morning and buy your fish there. By nightfall, most of the restaurants will be sold out of it, but they will cook yours for you.
Like the slower pace of Mexico, when you choose a villa, take your time with consideration of what you want. How big, on the hillside, on the beach, how much staff. You can do all the housework yourself, or negotiate a maid, cook, laundress, houseboy, gardener, pool guy or a guard dog, or TV and air conditioning. But be sure to get all this in writing so every body remembers.
If you like to eat fresh fish, you have found heaven. The restaurants all sell the fish caught that day, and the fancier ones have fish caught in other places. You can eat fish tacos all day without sitting down. Every place sells them, and every one will spoil you compared with the ones back home. Purified water is everywhere and safe, but ask if you want to make sure. They serve dishes without fish, too, and the food is past wonderful.
What can you do in a villa? Be amazed by the colors of Mexico as in the colors of the walls and the amazing birds. Then snooze in your hammock in the soft ocean breezes and hear the surf and those birds. Or go downtown, which is a 7 block square containing a little cobblestone plaza, and the outdoor market. It is aflame with colorful food, and is where the locals buy almost anything. Vendors will offer you local crafts and carvings where ever you go, but unlike large cities, nobody is begging or pressuring you.
After seeing the town, there is swimming, fishing, snorkeling, parasailing, beach volleyball, shopping, golf and then taking tours of the local archaeological sites or cities like Taxco, famous for silver. These are short rides away.
Every possible agency for villa rental can be seen online. The airport is on the promontory that separates the two towns, and transportation anywhere is always available. The taxis have posted rates and no meters so it’s not necessary to haggle with them.
A Zihuatanejo villa can change your life. You may want to remain there. The town’s main quality is calm, even though you can always find activities. Remember to take thongs and mosquito spray.
