Vacation in Antalya Turkey

by Adeline Rekli

Just on the inner side of the Mediterranean coast is the Antalya Province. Within its walls you will find Antalya, which is the capital. If you haven’t heard of the area before, you may want to mark it down for your next vacation. You’ll be able to experience breath taking views, a long line of history, and a mixture of cultures making this area in Turkey very intriguing.

Start with the Beaches:Whether you plan on taking in all the activities or just a few, the beaches are a great place to start and finish. One of the favorites is Lara Beach, where surfers hit the waves, tourists enjoy the sun, and others just stroll along feeling a sense of relaxation.

Then of course if you need a little relaxation while taking in the culture, just take a stroll along the red-bricked sidewalk in Kararalioglu Park’s Lara Halk Plajı. You will find this to be one of the longest beaches along the Mediterranean. However, if you just want a golden tan, try your luck down in Lara Strand, which is east of the Club Hotel Sera.

If scenery is your choice of pleasure, we recommend experiencing the beautiful views of Konyaalti beach. The unorthodox importation of white rocks and sand give this beach a wonderful appeal. You’ll also find that it stretches for miles on the western side of Antalya Bay. Your best option will be enjoying everything while riding a bike, which you can rent from the local stores.

If you happen to go in June, you can enjoy the IASSF event. This is short for the International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival that’s been held annually since 2006. Famous sculptors from around the world visit this area just to show-off their masterpieces. Definitely a once in a lifetime chance to see them close-up and personal.

Places to Stay:Antalya truly is the place to stay during your vacation. They specifically build their province to suit the needs of every individual on any type of budget. You can live lavishly in a five star hotel that’s situated right on the beach or just stay somewhere that is inexpensive in order to do more during your stay. The resorts are unbelievable, and Antalya resorts allow you to use live agents or web searching for your next trip.

What to See:Antalya’s history includes Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman influences, clearly visible while walking around the street.

Off Cumhuriyet road and Varyant Street, is the old Ottomon Antalya and harbor. This beautiful area is not only interesting historically, but is also a beautiful destination for its vibrant nightlife and travel options. Restaurants, cafes and shops popular with tourists, surround the harbor. Tour boats are available for beautiful evening cruises to view the striking lighted cliffs. Half-day sightseeing tours are also available starting with the Hadrianus Gate starting from the time of the Romans ending at the Antalya Archaeological Museum, giving the traveler an opportunity to gain a perspective on the history of this beautiful city.

Weather and Climate:Antalya is protected from northern winds by the Toros Mountain range, and boasts about 300 sunny days every year. Summer temperatures may range as high as 100 degrees, but northeasterly winds as well as the sea breeze helps moderate the feeling of the temperature.
